  • CLARE KUNNY. PRESIDENT.

    Clare is an art historian and museum professional with extensive experience developing educational art programs for museum visitors of all ages. Clare served as head of Public Education and Teaching at The J. Paul Getty Museum for 10 years. Clare held the same position during the latter part of her 17 years in the Department of Education at The Art Institute of Chicago. Clare’s long career guiding visitors in viewing, thinking about, and discussing the art found in great museums has prepared her for the mission she’s undertaken with Art Muse Academy. She holds an MA in Art History from the University of Chicago and has completed doctoral coursework in colonial Mexican art at the University of Illinois at Chicago. Clare is a founding member and the Director of Art Muse Los Angeles, a for-profit company with a community of art historians, artists, and educators who offer small group private art tours in museums, galleries, artist studios, and private collections throughout the LA region. Clare conceived of and launched Art Muse Academy in 2020.

  • NOELLE VALENTINO. SECRETARY.

    Before transitioning to the insurance industry, Noelle worked in auctions, museums, and galleries, where her responsibilities included building relationships with high-profile clients, as well as research and appraisal writing. Presently, as Chubb's Senior Fine Art & Collections Specialist, she travels throughout the Western United States to assess and safeguard high-value art, jewelry, timepieces, wine, and other passion assets. Noelle's career in the art world has spanned institutions including the Smithsonian, Christie’s auction house, The Getty Museum, and UCLA's Hammer Museum. She holds a Master's degree in Art History and is an active member of the Appraisers Association of America. As a founding member of Art Muse Los Angeles, she enjoys leading private tours of museums, galleries, and cultural spaces throughout the city. When she's not engaging with art, Noelle likes pursuing outdoor activities such as hiking, skiing, and sailing. She joined the Art Muse Academy board in 2020.

  • Cynthia Harrington. TREASURER.

    Cynthia Harrington, CFA, CFE, is a serial entrepreneur with successful companies in education technology and investment management behind her. She holds the designation of Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) and Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE). Cynthia advised the high net worth and small institution market at Piper Jaffray and Bear Stearns for 20 years before founding Harrington Capital Management. She has 30 years of experience in asset management. She is also an award-winning journalist, interviewing thousands of leaders in the respective field, such as the 2 Nobel Prize winners, Vernon Smith and William Sharpe, for articles on behavioral finance and retirement planning. Over 400 of her articles appear in publications such as CFA Magazine, Fraud Magazine, Accounting Today, Financial Engineering News, and Journal of Accountancy. She joined the Art Muse Academy board in 2020.

  • ROSS KARLAN. BOARD MEMBER.

    Ross Karlan is a scholar, curator, educator, and writer specializing in the art, culture, and literature of the Spanish and Portuguese speaking worlds from the Middle Ages through today. Ross completed his BA at the University of Pennsylvania in 2014 and his PhD at Georgetown University in 2020, and before moving to Los Angeles, he was a postdoctoral researcher at the Smithsonian’s National Portrait Gallery. Ross joined Art Muse LA in 2020 and now lives in Miami, Florida where he leads our Miami office, organizing public programs, private excursions and travel programs in South Florida.

  • ROBIN TRENTO. BOARD MEMBER.

    A Los Angeles native and 4th-generation Californian, Robin earned her BA in Italian and Art History at the University of California, Santa Barbara, after having studied at the University of Padua, Italy, and UCLA. Working for the past 27 years, first in the Education Department at The J. Paul Getty Museum and currently as a research associate for the Department of Drawings, has allowed Robin to develop an unparalleled expertise in The Getty collection. At the same time, her extensive experience of many other museums gives her the ability to place any collection or exhibition she addresses in the broader perspective of art history. Robin offers tours in English and Italian. Robin is a founding member of Art Muse Los Angeles. She joined the Art Muse Academy board in 2020.

  • Kim Allen-Niesen. Board Member.

    Kim Allen-Niesen is a LA-based art collector and philanthropist. Her interest is primarily in education and the arts. In addition to the Art Muse Academy, she serves on the Board of Advisers and the acquisition committee of Northwestern’s Block Museum; the board of The Brick; the board of the Arts for Healing and Justice Network; an Acquisition Committee for the Rose Museum; and, leads tours at LACMA and the Getty. Formerly, she served as Secretary of the Project X Foundation which administered X-TRA, an art criticism journal. She is a retired estate planning attorney.
