Art Muse Academy is designed to provide recent college graduates with majors in art history, studio practice, & related fields with practical experiences in the visual arts. 

An 8-week program is customized to provide behind-the-scenes access to various work environments in the art world. The intern’s scope of work will include an array of operational tasks vital to the organization’s success such as attending weekly meetings, observing virtual and in-person programs, writing projects, and social media.

Our internships are available each year in the spring and fall.

  • Ashley Castañeda

    INTERN, MIAMI.

    FALL 2023

    Ashley is a visual artist and writer who received their BFA at The Rhode Island School of Design. Ashley was Art Muse Academy’s Fall 2023 intern in Miami, where they had relocated after graduating from their alma mater. Ashley has contributed to Art Muse LA Premium, engaging with their local art community and events, while also contributing to the social media presence of Art Muse LA. Ashley is passionate about art education and hopes to continue to combine this discipline with their studio practice. Ashley is currently a Guest Experience Associate at the Museum of Sex in Miami, FL, and pursuing more opportunities for teaching positions.

  • Savannah Martinez.

    SPRING 2023.

    Savannah Martinez is pursuing an Associate in Arts for Transfer in Psychology from Santa Monica College. Savannah is Art Muse Academy's Spring 2023 intern, working to further her education in art and art history. Through her AMA internship, she is receiving guidance on the art world and learning about different jobs within the field. She is also exploring the rich history of art and literature. For one of Savannah's internship assignments, she wrote an essay about the painting Penelope Unraveling Her Web (1783–1784), a work by Joseph Wright of Derby in The Getty Center's permanent collection. Savannah is passionate not only about art but also about her own culture; she enjoys learning about Central America as well. Savannah looks forward to advancing her critical thinking skills as she furthers her education.

  • Sofia Beltran.

    SUMMER 2022.

    Sofia Beltran is pursuing a triple degree in English, Creative Writing, and Classical Liberal Arts from The Master’s University in Santa Clarita. Sofia served as the Summer 2022 Getty Marrow Undergraduate Intern for Art Muse Academy. She worked extensively on the guide: Access! West Los Angeles Outdoor Sculpture, and participated in the inaugural Summer Sculpture Festival from August 6–8, 2022, held at the Franklin D. Murphy Sculpture Garden and the Beverly Hills Garden Park. Originally from Colombia, Sofia speaks Spanish, English, and French and is currently focusing on a career in the arts.

  • Paloma Bautista-Nicholas.

    SPRING 2022.

    Paloma Bautista-Nicholas received her BA in Education and Spanish from UCLA. She worked at the UCLA Library of Special Collections, where she discovered her love for archival work. She has since worked at Holocaust Museum LA, The J. Paul Getty Museum, The Association of Research Institutes in Art History (ARIAH), and Hammer Museum. Paloma is passionate about museum equity and has centered most of her work around creating diverse, inclusive, and accessible online outreach and programming, with a particular interest in Spanish programming. Previously, Paloma piloted a Spanish tour program at Hammer Museum and served as the Spring 2022 intern for Art Muse Academy. Paloma currently works as the Education Specialist at ESMoA (El Segundo Museum of Art).

  • Alexandria Ude.

    SUMMER 2021.

    Alexandria Ude received her BA in Gender, Ethnic, and Multicultural Studies with an emphasis in Women's Studies from Cal State Polytechnic University in Pomona. Alexandria served as the Summer 2021 Getty Marrow Undergraduate Intern for Art Muse Academy. She worked on the planning and research stages of the guide: Access! West Los Angeles Outdoor Sculpture. After her internship, Alexandria worked as a Guest Experience Guide at Kidspace Children's Museum in Pasadena. She currently works as a Guest Service Associate at the GRAMMY Museum in Los Angeles.

  • Chloe Landis.

    SPRING 2021.

    Chloe Landis received a BA in Art History and Egyptology, and an MA in Egyptology, with an emphasis in Egyptian art and architecture, from UCLA. For over 4 years, she has worked in museum education at the Laguna Art Museum, The Getty Center, and Hammer Museum, and studied at the Museo Egizio in Turin, Italy. Her research focuses on the underrepresented lives of royal women in ancient Egypt, and her education practice centers around access and equity. Chloe served as the Spring 2021 Art Muse Academy intern. She worked on the planning and research stages of the guide: Access! West Los Angeles Outdoor Sculpture. After her AMA internship, she joined the Art Muse Los Angeles team as the Social Media Coordinator in 2021. In addition, Chloe currently works as a Manager of Education at the Long Beach Museum of Art.

  • Julia Veres.

    SPRING 2021.

    Julia received a BA in Sociology with a minor in Professional Writing from the University of California, Santa Barbara. As an intern for Art Muse Academy in Spring 2021, she worked on marketing for the organization. She went on to pursue a position as a public relations specialist for Noble House Home Furnishings. Julia currently works as a content and copywriting associate at VENDO, a company that builds brands to accelerate growth in different industries.

  • Shannan Haft.

    INTERN.
    FALL 2020.

    Shannan Haft received a BA in Art History, Criticism, and Conservation from UCLA. She was the 1st intern for Art Muse Academy. She excels at wearing many hats, both in the field of art and beyond. Since AMA, she has worked as a cataloguer and social media specialist for Auctions & Estate Sales of Los Angeles; founded her own company ShannanHaftTennis; worked with legacy artist accounts, including Barry Manilow and the Judy Garland Estate. Shannan is currently on the Growth Marketing Team for Pluto TV, a streaming service operated by Paramount.
