DESCRIPTION CONTINUED AFTER 360° VIDEO.

Over time, the copper has become tarnished and no longer has a super slick and glossy orange hue as is typical of the material, but rather a semi-smooth and dull dark brown.

As you get closer to the work, feel the semi-smoothness of the copper tubes. Each tube is crimped at the end, meaning the tubes narrow and are pinched off, similar to how you might crimp the edges of pie crust. The tubes range in length, e.g., some are short at 11 in. (27.94 cm) while others are longer at 25 in. (63.5 cm). Since the material of the sculpture is metal, however, you will notice that the edges are sharp and pointy compared to the smooth roundness of the middle of the tubes.

In Southern California, while the weather is usually warm, the metal tubes are hollow and therefore cool to the touch. You will find that since the center of the sculpture is shaded by the pile-up of crimped tubes, however, the sculpture’s edges will be warmer than the cooler core of the work.
